E-Zone’s Business Accelerator Launches TiER 1 Performance Solutions

Covington, Kentucky – After six months, TiER 1 Performance Solutions has met with enough success to “graduate” from the halls of Madison E-Zone, the high-tech business accelerator that opened its doors in September of 2001. TiER 1 has become a highly profitable business engaging with a variety of high-profile clients.

TiER 1, which specializes in change enablement, knowledge management and learning services and solutions, was started by three executives, each with over 30 years combined experience in building custom learning programs for Fortune 1000 companies: Norm Desmarais, Chris Cole, and Dr. Kevin Moore. Their combined strengths and backgrounds have allowed TiER 1 to develop rapidly, acquiring such clients as Federal Express, AMS, Becthel Construction, Wendy’s International, and over a dozen others.

The company’s target clients are large organizations that struggle with the management of people and ideas. Through a streamlined and carefully executed process, TiER 1 provides strategies, tools, and services for managing the communication and knowledge necessary to facilitate rapid change. “Our mission is to help companies use knowledge to improve performance.  As companies move more and more to services as their differentiation, the knowledge of their people becomes the foundation for their success,” said Greg Harmeyer, Managing Director for TiER 1.

A state-designated Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC), Madison E-Zone works closely with qualifying technology companies as they participate in the ICC process, a rigorous, 12-step process designed to bring together the necessary business expertise to assist entrepreneurs in commercializing technologies that demonstrate significant market potential. The ICC process has been invaluable to TiER 1 in two ways.  First, it has helped us to continually refine who we are and how we create value. Secondly, the network of resources we've tapped into at Madison E-zone has really enabled us to get off the ground much more quickly,” said Harmeyer, adding that although TiER 1 is moving out of the E-Zone, they will continue to work through the ICC process.

Impressed by the City of Covington’s dedication to developing the  technology corridor along Madison Avenue in Covington, TiER 1 has decided to stay in the area, moving just a few doors down from Madison E-Zone. As Executive Director of Madison E-Zone, Casey Barach Madison E-Zone Executive Director. Barach has worked with dozens of promising companies, and in this time of economic uncertainty, knows what it takes to move a business from a start-up to an established, revenue-generating operation. “TiER 1 is an example of the tremendous potential a solidly-structured New Economy company can have. Their success not only provides a boost to an economic development vehicle like Madison E-Zone, it helps to strengthen the technology base of the entire region,” said Barach.

When TiER 1 moves into their new space in May, they will become the second company to relocate, or “graduate.. Optimum Pay announced plans to move out of Madison E-Zone earlier this year.
